ETEDA Announces new President/CEO

The East Tennessee Economic Development Agency (ETEDA) board of directors has selected Brad Maul as its new President and CEO effective January 1, 2021.  Maul will replace Allen Neel who is retiring after serving as ETEDA President/CEO since 1994.

“ETEDA is pleased to announce the hiring of Brad Maul as its next President and CEO.  After considering numerous qualified candidates for this important leadership position, Brad quickly rose to the top based on his professional credentials and his depth of knowledge of the economic development industry and important constituencies both regionally and nationally”, Harry Gross, Executive Vice President, Truist Bank; ETEDA Board Chair and Chair of CEO Search Committee. 

Maul, currently based in Nashville, has a demonstrated background in economic development marketing.  He is currently Director of Economic Development, Industrial Business Unit with Clayco, Inc., one of the nation's largest privately-owned real estate and construction firms.

He was formerly manager of Global Location and Expansion Services with KPMG, LLP, an international audit/tax/advisory and site consulting company and served as Target Market Specialist with the Tennessee Valley Authority.

“Brad has a broad base of experience in economic development.  He strongly supports the regional marketing concept and is familiar with our fifteen-county region.  He has the knowledge to build on ETEDA’s strong foundation”, Larry Waters, Sevier County Mayor and ETEDA Board Chair-elect.

Maul worked in East Tennessee for several years before relocating to Nashville, first as Director of Economic Development for ETEDA, and then as Director of Economic Development for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.

“Electric power is an important consideration when a company relocates.  Brad has a strong background in working with both TVA and with the local power distributors”, Greg Fay, General Manager, Clinton Utilities Board and Immediate past chair of ETEDA Board.

Maul received his business administration degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

He and his wife, a Knoxville native, have two young sons.
