Roane County Tennessee technology and Oak Ridge National LaboratoryRoane County, TN is a place where businesses prosper and the quality of life is outstanding. Communities in the county offer small town atmospheres while also offering the cultural and technological resources of a major metropolitan area. The county is home to the nation's largest federal research and development center, the largest science project in the U.S., numerous high-tech industrial parks and is within minutes of Knoxville and Oak Ridge. 

Situated on Interstate 40, which runs from North Carolina to California, and with easy access to Interstate 75, stretching from southern Florida to Michigan at the Canadian border, Roane County is within a 500-mile radius of 70 percent of major U.S. markets.

The county has two railroads, a municipal airport, an international airport in nearby Knoxville, and a commercial waterway — the Tennessee-Tombigbee – which gives access to 21 states, the Mississippi River, the Gulf ports and the Great Lakes.

In addition to excellent access to market, Roane County has a highly skilled, diverse and productive work force, an expanding industrial base, the reliability of Tennessee Valley Authority electricity, six industrial parks, an abundance of available industrial property and low tax rates.

Companies such as Bechtel Jacobs, EET Corporation, Kimble Chase Life Science & Research Products, Protean Instrument Corporation, The H.T. Hackney Company, Toho Carbon Fibers Inc. (TCF) and Wackenhut are flourishing in the business friendly environment.

Roane State Community College, a two-year college, offers career preparation programs leading to associate degrees or certificates in business management, office administration, nursing, and 13 other health science fields, is located in Roane County.

Located in the scenic foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Roane County has more than 700 miles of shoreline on beautiful Watts Bar Lake, one of the South's largest lakes, which offering an abundance of water recreation, world class fishing and lakeside resorts and restaurants.
