Longtime executive Nemec to fill position
Paul Divjak, president of Bechtel Jacobs Co. since late 2007 and a longtime Bechtel executive, is retiring effective July 17, a spokesman confirmed Wednesday.
Divjak will be succeeded by Joe Nemec, another longtime Bechtel executive who was the initial president of Bechtel Jacobs when the company - a partnership of Bechtel National and Jacobs Engineering - became DOE's Oak Ridge cleanup contractor in 1998.
Dennis Hill, a spokesman for Bechtel Jacobs, confirmed the change at the helm, which was announced internally among contractor employees.
Divjak came to Oak Ridge in late 2007, replacing Mike Hughes as president of the DOE contractor organization. During his time as president, Bechtel Jacobs reached agreement with DOE on a newly restructured contract - valued at $1.48 billion - that will run through 2011. The agreement established a fixed fee for the company and settled previous fees owed to the contractor, which had been the subject of lengthy negotiations.
Gerald Boyd, DOE's Oak Ridge manager, on Wednesday thanked Divjak for his work with Bechtel Jacobs.
In a statement, Boyd said, "The DOE community in Oak Ridge is grateful for Paul's leadership and for what he has achieved with some very difficult projects. We wish him well, and we look forward to continued success with the new leadership team at Bechtel Jacobs."
